York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute hospital and specialist healthcare services for approximately 800,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale - an area covering 3,400 square miles.

Annual turnover is approaching £0.5bn, with eight hospital sites and a workforce of around 9,000 staff working across the hospitals and in the community.

As an NHS Foundation Trust, YTH operates independently of the Department of Health, but remains part of the National Health Service. This gives them greater freedom and more formal links with patients and staff. They are accountable to them through an elected and appointed Council of Governors.

"The layout showing all the shifts coming up in the next 4-6 months is really helpful and helps with interpersonal planning as I have 4 young children so it allows me to plan childcare way in advance in order to undertake the work. Regular notification of URGENT shifts available and the use of the red marker to highlight these is excellent. In summary, using the patchwork App motivates me to take on Locum work at York due to the continued virtual support and when I did have a problem booking shifts I contacted the central office in London and the administrators were super friendly and fixed the problem within an hour so it's really reassuring that I can contact the central office if there is a problem.
